You Little Tease…

teased

Don’t let these coming months wear you down with limp hair. That’s the perfect time to pull out your trusty ColorProof stuff! In this case, LiftIT. Apply to the damp roots at the crown or anywhere you’d like a little boost. Then blow dry with a round or paddle brush, over-directing at the crown. This little trick combined with the root lift product will be your new best trick.

Once your hair is all clean and bouncy soft, you can use a good tease brush to gently backcomb the crown area. Don’t forgot to smooth out the surface though. You don’t want everyone to SEE all that backcombing you just worked on!

After you’ve created this great lift, curl the ends, or straighten them, or try out a cute pony.

Either way, you won’t fall flat with boring hair again!

November Product of the Month: ColorProof LiftIt

liftitNo matter your hair type, a root boost like this will work wonders. ColorProof’s LiftIt Foam Mousse can help liven up those flat roots for an instant face lift! With long lasting body and shine, this whipped volumizing mousse also protects your color. Apply at the roots, or anywhere you need volume, and blow dry. Done and Done!

Sexy Up That Pony!

A good ponytail is a good ponytail. Polish it up or tousle it, but if it’s done well, you’ve got yourself a keeper. If you’re just putting up it to keep it out of your hair… cut that out! Unless your cleaning house, at the gym, or doing something that requires your hair to be out of your face, try not to do it. And if you must, play it up!

Ponytails are a great 2nd day hair go-to. Today, I’m digging on the bouffant ponytail and here’s a quick how-to:

bouffantpony

Start out with some dry shampoo. That stuff is a god send. It absorbs the oils AND gives you enough volume to buy you another day of not washing your hair. Spray that at the root, let dry and brush out your hair.

Next it’s essential to use a teasing comb for this. Sure, you can use any old brush, but these combs make it so much easier! My favorite is the Paul Mitchell Tease brush. The pointy end allows for a clean parting to keep gathering more hair!

pmtease

Leave a section out around your hairline and start teasing at the crown. Use some hairspray if you’ve got clean hair for some texture. You’ll want to back comb the root gently and create a pillow-y cloud of hair. DO NOT RAT IT OUT. You’ll end up with a doggy mat type look and that’s not sexy! Once you’ve created enough teased hair at the crown, start brushing your hair into a pony while smoothing out the hairline section you left out before. Secure your elastic and voila! Now if you want some volume, go ahead and tease the bottom half of your ponytail and smooth out the top! Instant glam hair!

Avoid creating your teased section too far back above the crown. This is why you want a good foundation to your back combing and not a messy nest of hair. You’ll end up with an egg shape. Womp Womp Womp.

Now, go practice!

3 Must Have Cuts for Fall

2014 has had some pretty fun hair trends I think. Balayage, ‘Sombre’ – ombre’s softer sister, fashion colors, but what about the cuts? What about the foundation to a really great style that makes you feel beautiful?

I’ve come up with 3 really great haircut inspirations to get you in the mood for a change!

1. The Pixie

mwpixie

When it comes to a short cut my mind always go to Michelle Williams. A style like this can be roughed for an edgy look or polished up to be more sophisticated. Longer fringe with some volume at the crown will flatter your face like no other!

2. The LOB (or the Long Bob)

lob

This medium length hairstyle looks great on just about any face shape. Those loose waves are also really in this year. Part it down the middle, or add side swept fringe to bring attention to your peepers.

3. Long Hair

Well. This picture always gets me. That stark white against the black with her skin and dark eyes, but it’s her hair. It’s always the hair. If long hair is your thing, add some layers to really break up that weight. The layers really add a depth to hair that color only accentuates. If you’ve got finer hair, have the ends cut blunt. This gives the illusion of thicker hair. But again… that blonde!!

So, if you haven’t had a change or just aren’t feeling pretty, let’s get you in for a revamp!

Subtle and Flirty

jghair

Subtle can be gorgeous. Take for example Jennifer Garner’s glossy locks. The balayage pieces barely reach the top for a natural effect. This style is low maintenance but packs a punch for a sexy effect that truly stuns. Balayage is the way to go, ladies!

October Product of the Month: ColorProof ControlCraze

controlcraze

If you’re sporting a funky pixie or sexy bob this season, you’ve got to try ColorProof’s ControlCraze. This styling crème will help create body and texture with a high gloss finish that you can control! Simply apply a small amount to damp hair and style! Mix in a little of the Extreme Shine oil for added smoothness before you blow-dry. As with any product, it’s best to comb it through the hair to evenly distribute. Heat and color protection? Check! It’s all jam packed into this bottle with a wonderful smell!

On Trend for Fall: Loose Waves

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset If you’re rocking a bob right now, try out these mini mermaid waves!

Once you’ve washed your hair, prep those locks with a styling cream before blow-drying. Smooth out with either a paddle brush as you dry, or rough dry if you’re pressed for time.

Next, either work with a flat iron or a medium sized curling iron/wand. The trick with these laid back pieces is to wrap your hair around your tool leaving out the ends. This leaves the hair looking a little “wavier”.

Spray with a flexible hairspray or shine spray, and voila!

Mini mermaid waves.
